I've confirmed that another client (iChat) can connect my AIM account without issue when no proxy is set in the client. HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS? and: HTTP. Again, if someone can tell me _how_ to "prove that it's not the proxy's fault" (or that it is), I am happy to do so. Is this being looked at for 1.5? Sagi, something is closing the connection external to pidgin (be it a network issue, a firewall, etc).

Firewall on Win7 seems to be setup to allow Pidgin across all ports (and I hadn't fiddled with it before this started), and I can connect to other protocols through Pidgin From here, I simply went into my account settings on Pidgin and disabled the "use SSL" option.
