I tested the 3 modes and found that:0 -> Doesn't prompt. The latest version of Microsoft Remote Desktop shows to enter the user name as "DOMAIN\user name". and Microsoft Remote Desktop 8.0.5 works great with ip.address:port as host. You can not post a blank message.

With Windows Vista, I get an ugly prompt when connecting to Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2000 Server machines saying:Remote Desktop cannot verify the identity of the computer you want to First ensure you've disabled the "Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication (recommended)" setting.

Clicking "Connect anyway" (or setting preferences to do so) worked before this update. If there is a win2003 hot fix for that, the problem shall fixed once for all.
