Setup Cannot Copy File Windows 2000

This can involve setting a bios option to pretend SATA is IDE, or pressing F6 to install SATA drivers from another source early in the setup. I should do some looking into this for future referrence. After spending several hours each night over the past week, I finally found what I needed right here on your message board. Doing a clean install of a laptop with 500mhz AMDk6 Compaq Presario, I am getting messings saying that it can't copy certain files on this install. Flag Permalink This was helpful (0) Collapse - I'm having same problem - no room on the floppy.... Glad the post was helpful. I cloned the hard disk to a much larger one a few years ago before it showed any problems. I had to hit esc to continue installing.

When i tried to do a search on it under Windows Explorer, it couldn't find it, because it would not search the Winnt directory. Finally I cleaned the cd and it installed. After several failed installs,(different faults each time), I changed my old 'Creative' CD drive for a new 'Philips' 5232 CD drive.

This rules out a fault with my CD RW. you can borrow another CD drive to your friends, (just for a test) if it works,, then, your CD drive is the main cause.
