I thought I got a bad bunch of bad cd's or a couple of defective drives but when put in my Compaq workstation(poineer DVD rom) they read fine. No, create an account now. Unfortunately, the setup disk did not give an 'upgrade' choice - it attempted a fresh OS install, destroying all my updated drivers, and system checkpoints in the process. Next option is copy the entire installation disk onto either the hard drive (a separate partition) or a plug-in USB drive and boot from something else, switch to the copied image http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/installing-windows-xp-cant-copy-certain-files.153348/
After 10 months of surprisingly reliable operation from this machine I needed to 'edit' an image to make a transaprent background. It's possible that the installation fails because the harddisk is infected? Windows 10 will need certain drivers for USB etc, but the motherboard will have to be fairly modern for it to work fully.
I browsed my C: drive and found that each of the DLL's in question already existed in the System32 folder (in expanded DLL form, not DL_), and when I checked the Yes, my password is: Forgot your password? Because you need to clear the HDD via a complete reformat, then try to install Windows. I did not think that would work, but did (on a non-fatal) unreadable file XP install issue.

Copyright 2002 Quinstreet Inc. Aborted and tried the LG and installed without any porblems. the windows10 install worked fine but 1st I do not have a license and 2nd the devices for sound, usb wintv und usb wireless were not recognised and slimdrivers did not Since I am repairing the OS vs.
Worried, I turned off the PC and restarted in BIOS. weblink I had tried using the UBCD, tried other versions of Windows OS, all with no success. Several years ago I had this same problem as you are reporting, which was caused by the CD drive being faulty, I had to buy a new one, then Windows XP although I have no clue how to fix it without formatting the whole thing again which gets me nowhere.
I've tried four different CD drives. Get More Info I followed these - I copied the CD to the hard drive after booting from a floppy, then followed the instructions to manually extract all the CAB files, and it worked. The setup starts off by loading files (drivers etc). Tks for any info !
go to: http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread8356.html. ENTER HERE © CBS Interactive Inc. / All Rights Reserved. then click enter ..to try again ...that might take you through ...or lead you to Another error ..you continue changing CDs until its done .... useful reference I repeated this until I had tested each module individually.

I am sure that there is nothing wrong with the CD drive, because I also use RIS (Remote Installation Service) which allow me to perform install through the network. Can your PC run 64 bit XP? Though the thread is a little old, nice to have the info as a FYI.
