I thought I got a bad bunch of bad cd's or a couple of defective drives but when put in my Compaq workstation(poineer DVD rom) they read fine. Personaly had a similar problem, using a different drive (from my old computer) was able to install XP with no hustle. I didn't read the whole thread again, so if this is a silly question, so what? Installing Ubuntu will overwrite Windows on your 'C' drive, so it's worth trying as it's free, and only takes 20 minutes to do. Get More Info I followed these - I copied the CD to the hard drive after booting from a floppy, then followed the instructions to manually extract all the CAB files, and it worked. One day just turned it on one last time before I would RMA it and what do you know, it works fine. It takes just 2 minutes to sign up (and it's free!).

I realized that it could be a memory problem so I put in memory that I knew worked. Any ideas would be appreciated. Does this mean that SATA could have a problem functioning well with the LG which is connected through IDE as Master and no other peripherals on the IDE?
